Monsoon Damaged Fence in Tucson: What to Do and Who Pays

What to do when a monsoon storm or a fallen tree takes down your fence in Tucson: fast repair, insurance, neighbor trees and temporary fixes.

Monsoon Damaged Fence in Tucson: What to Do and Who Pays

If a monsoon storm took down your fence, take photos of the fence and of what hit it before you clean up. Then call your insurer and a fence company. Monsoon season in southern Arizona runs from June 15 to September 30, and its downbursts are short, local and strong enough to flatten a solid fence.

Half my fence blew down. Who can fix it fast and what will it cost?

Send us a photo and the rough length and we can give you a first idea. When a section blew down and took posts with it, that is a major repair: $900 to $2,500 in the national 2026 figures. One storm can hit a whole neighborhood, so companies book up within a day or two. Call early.

My dogs are in the yard and the fence is open to the road. What can be done right away?

The gap can be closed for now. Standing posts are braced and a temporary panel goes across the opening until the full repair is done. Tell us at the start that dogs are in the yard, or that a pool is now open to the street, so the visit is scheduled ahead of routine work.

Is there an extra charge for emergency or weekend fence repair?

It depends on the company, so ask when you call. Some add a fee for nights and weekends and some do not offer them. A temporary closure now, with the proper repair booked on a normal weekday, is usually the cheaper route.

Does homeowners insurance cover a fence knocked down by a storm or a tree?

Sometimes. A fence is commonly insured as an other structure, but coverage turns on the cause, your deductible and the policy wording. If the repair costs less than the deductible, there is nothing to claim. Your insurer or agent has the answer. We provide a written estimate for the claim.

My neighbor's tree fell on my fence. Whose insurance pays?

In most cases your own policy covers your own fence, no matter whose tree it was. If the neighbor had been warned that the tree was dead or dangerous, the answer can change. Check with your insurer. For a wall or fence that both of you use, read the section on shared fences in Arizona below.

The insurer offered much less than the repair quote because the fence is old. Now what?

Ask for the calculation in writing. Many policies pay the depreciated value of an old fence, not the cost of a new one. Reply with an itemized estimate. If the gap remains, a common answer is to repair only the storm damage and leave the rest.

The storm knocked the fence down and my neighbor says it is mine. Who pays?

Start with whose land it stands on. Arizona has no general statute that splits the cost of a boundary fence between neighbors, so ownership, any written agreement and any HOA rules decide it. If the line itself is in doubt, an Arizona registered land surveyor settles that, not a fence company. Our shared fence page explains more.

I’m incredibly happy with the responsiveness and service I received. My wooden fence gate was in bad shape and needed professional repairs. This team responded quickly, came out the same day to assess the damage, provided a fair quote, and completed the repair that very day. The gate is now working perfectly. I had reached out to several other fence companies, but no one else was as attentive. When it’s time for a ne…

I honestly thought fence work would take forever, but these folks proved me wrong. They finished ahead of schedule, and the result looks like something straight out of a magazine. Our neighbors keep asking who did it. That’s how you know it’s good work.

Our vinyl fence installation went off without a hitch. They stuck to the schedule, paid attention to every fence post and panel, and gave us a clean, solid fence line. The new fencing has completely transformed our property’s look and feel.
